Practice Real-World Skills in Your Financial Management Courses

Throughout your online master’s curriculum, your instructors will assign coursework that will help you prioritize in-depth skills and real-world experience and pursue career paths in finance or other business-related areas. Your courses are also designed to help prepare you for industry certifications, like the CFA exam.

In past courses, students have been able to complete the following course projects:

  • Create a new payment system for a company from scratch or renovate a current payment system (using examples from real organizations).
  • Use the McGraw-Hill Connect Lab to complete weekly quizzes with videos, spreadsheets, and more.
  • Use financial modeling, analysis, and research to build forecasts and projections for a company, then evaluate financial alternatives.
  • Collect data and deliver a report for a mock presentation from the perspective of a company’s Chief Financial Officer.

Qualify for Certified Risk Specialist (CRS) Training

Through an alliance with Interfima, a financial services professional organization, UMGC students who complete a bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, economics, business, or law may be eligible for a discounted training bundle for the Certified Risk Specialist (CRS) certification. This bundle includes CRS preparation course materials, six hours of review, and a one-hour exam for $600. UMGC alumni are also eligible to apply for the discount.
